The diverse set of activities includes:

• Provide a clear end-to-end pathway from business modeling to requirement management to analysis and design to implementation to testing to deployment using the development language of your choice
• Develop Use-case realizations in UML to demonstrate how the classes collaborate and interact in component based architecture. These are linked back to requirements in RequisitePro (if required)
• Modeling detailed architectural design in UML so that the solution vision is well understood and appropriately interpreted by the technical team and how key mechanisms will be supported in the implementation environment of your choice
• Synthesize the two modeling aspects – the business behavioral analysis model and the architectural design model –to create a consistent object-oriented design that can be verified as supporting the behavioral requirements and the non-functional constraints and other architectural forces
• Assist our customers in applying these modeling techniques using either IBM Rational Rose XDE Developer or the IBM Rational Software Development Platform

Service Overview

RapidStart/RDC program offering provides a packaged set of consulting services to quickly implement a Rational Design and Construction discipline. RapidStart solutions in this area are aimed at helping our customers effectively deploy and use IBM Rational software architecture, modelling and development tools, guiding them in the design and construction of robust, resilient, component-oriented architectures. It is delivered by our Certified Rational consultants - all of who have an extensive background in Rational Software Development Process - to solve your unique problems. Across Borders works with your organization to apply these techniques in a mature iterative fashion with strong configuration management and change management provided by ClearCase and ClearQuest.

RapidStart/RDC Basics

During this 2-3 weeks service engagement, Across Borders Rational Certified professionals will:

• Install and customize RDC products on one hardware platform of your choice with sufficient detail to enable you to test them in your environment.
• Discuss administration and operational aspects of your environment with operations personnel including IBM Rational Rose XDE Developer and IBM Rational Software Development Platform tips & techniques.
• Provide you with a detailed report that documents your Rational tools custom installation environment and parameters, security and future deployment consideration, "best practice" naming convention guidelines for use with RDC tools and value added Rational products available in the marketplace.
• Provide you with a skills assessment overview in a matrix format so you can tactically plan and budget for RDC product training/resource requirements.

RapidStart/RDC Advanced

During this 4-5 weeks service engagement, Across Borders Rational Certified professionals will perform everything provided in the RapidStart RDC Basics as well as:

• Install RDC tools on one additional platform.
• Review your Enterprise Rational Design and Construction architecture, topology and document recommendations.
• Review RDC tools implementation and integration considerations.
• Provide a one-day Rational Design and Construction tools overview training session (three students maximum) that addresses the fundamentals of RDC tools including:
  • Overview, Concepts and Architecture.
  • Planning and Customization.
  • Sample Applications.
  • Future plans and considerations.
