Streamline and Optimize Your Revenue Cycle Processes.

Healthcare organizations are consistently challenged by increasing compliance and financial pressures.

Margins are thin. Reimbursements are declining. Bad debt is rising. And you need to prepare for the transition away from a fee-for-service reimbursement model to a value-based environment. At the same time, the upcoming transition to ICD-10 poses a significant risk of increased denials and diminished productivity. All of this means less cash flow for organizational initiatives including: investing in and upgrading information technology, acquiring physician practices, hiring additional staff, and expanding market reach through the construction of new facilities.

In order to remain competitive, you must optimize every aspect of your revenue cycle processes – from scheduling and registration to clinical documentation and patient collections. ABMCG’s advisors have extensive experience in assessing and identifying gaps to streamline and optimize revenue cycle processes. The results include significant improvements to cash flow, reductions in claim denials, and decreases in A/R days, providing you with a more efficient and sustainable revenue cycle engine.

We offer the following revenue cycle services:
  • Review of the 13-phase revenue cycle “fly-wheel” (from prior-approval through claims adjudication) to assess compliance with your organization’s systems
  • Department-by-department workflow analysis of your revenue cycle identified through interviewing key clinical managers and medical department representatives
  • Evaluation of current IT systems and data flow
  • Analysis of key performance indicators (KPI)
  • Readiness assessment and recommendations to prepare you for new payment models
  • Development of a complete operating plan that encompasses best practices with regulatory requirements

Deliver Real Value to Your Patients and Organization.

Patient engagement. It’s critical to effectively manage population health and is a must for ACO success.

Innovative healthcare organizations are gaining more from their patient portals than simply Meaningful Use attainment. They are improving patient satisfaction, reducing costs, and increasing volumes and referrals.

ABMCG’s technology advisors can help you develop and implement a holistic portal strategy that delivers real value to your patients and organization. We understand that effective patient portals are not simply purchased and installed. They are planned and designed with the patient user in mind and integrated with other systems. And we also understand that a successful strategy includes a plan to properly introduce and promote the portal to your patients.

Services Include

CDI Program Assessment

Our team will analyze your data to identify key areas of risks and opportunities to improve processes. During the assessment, we will conduct onsite interviews with key personnel including members of your medical staff and administrative services. A physician advisor will work closely with your medical staff at the outset of the project to set expectations, explain benefits, and describe how the program will help to improve performance measures.

CDI Program Design and Implementation

  • Physician and Provider Training Program - General documentation education and specialty specific training programs will be developed based on assessment results. Training programs can be conducted either face-to-face or online and includes fingertip references to help facilitate the process and meet the ultimate goal of thoroughly documenting the patient encounter.
  • Develop Governance Structure - Identify team members, role requirements, and quantifiable measures for success. Establish and implement workflow processes, accountability, and query tools. Create an ongoing review process and corrective action plans.
  • Data Review and Improvement Recommendations - Using a CDI review tool, our team will continuously review your results and provide recommendations for improvement.

Lead Your Project to Success.

Project leadership is a skill gained through experience and a clear understanding of enterprise processes.

While your internal experts may be highly knowledgeable about their specific areas of expertise, a successful healthcare project manager needs a more comprehensive understanding of the big picture and the fortitude to work with multiple levels of an organization. A project manager should also understand that every healthcare organization is different and that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach to steer the project towards success.

Ask yourself whether your project manager has the following qualities, which research has shown are characteristic of high value project leadership.

ABMCG provides

  • Set clear expectations at the outset and throughout the project?
  • Serve as a liaison to the steering committee, vendors, project teams and other departments?
  • Ensure that the project is on time and on budget?
  • Anticipate issues before they arise and address them quickly?
  • Communicate regularly to get buy-in from all levels of your organization?

If you don’t have the right resource in-house, we can help. At ABMCG, our project managers have successfully managed a wide range or projects including: HIT implementations, optimizations and upgrades, as well as business, clinical and operational improvement projects.

  • Conducting a gap analysis between business needs and program demands
  • Developing an enterprise-wide plan with full program documentation
  • Assessing individual projects and overall programs using objective financial measurement
  • Assistance in setting up and/or leading the project management office (PMO)
